Sector breadth before a reporting cluster

Reporting weeks compress attention. For small-cap groups, that compression can hide a simple fact: a sector “move” may be two names carrying the average while the rest of the group has already rolled over.

Breadth over narrative

Before we treat a sector as supportive of a thesis into results, we ask how many names are participating in the leadership. Concentration is not automatically bearish — some groups are naturally top-heavy — but it changes how much weight a sector label deserves on the map.

Timing the review

A Sector Rotation Review is most useful one to three weeks before a known cluster, when there is still time to adjust. Waiting until the day before results turns the session into commentary rather than preparation.

Briefing habit

In the live session we deliberately separate “names we like fundamentally” from “names the tape is actually sponsoring.” Clients who keep those lists distinct tend to leave with fewer forced decisions during the print week itself.
